Living in Rome

Roma non è Roma senza la Dolce Vita

“Rome is not Rome without La Dolce Vita”, so is the moto of one of the city’s small independent cinemas, which religiously shows Fellini’s masterpiece every Sunday at 5pm (in Italian with English subtitles).

The Cinema Azzurro Scipioni, on via degli Scipioni in the Prati neighbourhood near St Peter’s, is known for showing classic art movies, directed by great names such as Pasolini, Bergman, Bunuel, De Sica and others. However, Fellini’s Dolce Vita, the epic 1960 Roman film which famously featured Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg kissing in the Trevi fountain, has a special place on its schedule, as well as in the heart of the Roman people.
